Education and Training Voucher: Fact Sheet

Funds are available for eligible youth that are pursing post-secondary education or training opportunities.

What do I get?
Up to $5,000 per school year! This can cover the following school-related expenses:
  • Tuition and fees and room and board
  • Books, supplies, transportation, and miscellaneous personal expenses, including purchase of a personal computer
  • Student loans
  • Dependent care expenses
 
Who is eligible?
You are, if you meet the following requirements:
  • Those youth who were in foster care on or after their 14th birthday, and
  • Those youth who were adopted from foster care on or after their 16th birthday.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must receive passing grades.
  • Must be attending at least half-time at an accredited school that:
    1. Awards a Bachelor's degree or not less than a 2-year program that provides credit toward a degree, or
    2. Provides not less than 1-year of training toward gainful employment, or
    3. Is a vocational program that provides training for gainful employment and has been in existence for at least two years.
  • Youth who meet the above criteria can receive ETV once each fiscal year until their 23rd birthday
How do I apply?
  • Get the application from your caseworker
  • Complete the student application and ETV application forms
  • Compile all required documentation
  • Return completed application and documentation to your caseworker

More Facts
  • Applications will be processed as soon as all of your application materials have been turned in and processed.
  • You must apply your funds toward any fees due to your school.
  • This opportunity is available once each fiscal year. The fiscal year starts on October 1 and ends on September 30 each year. If you received these funds last year, your next application can be processed beginning on October 1.
